CAD: Management and Strategy
CAD has overtaken the drawing board and this change has brought about the need of CAD Management, principal tool of which became the CAD Standard.
CAD Management forces a practice to face wider issues of management, but comes up against a lack of managerial experience. For a practice CAD coincides with technology and formulating a strategy for technology means doing so for CAD. Practices seem to live in a period of increased activity (in pre-Olympics Greece) without adequate preparation. Indications from many fronts suggest that central to technology strategy should be the combined investment in both information technology and organizational changes. Strategy can adapt according to the existing balance between available technology and know-how.
This paper, under
the guidance of Professor Emmanuel Koukios, was
successfully submitted as a diploma dissertation during the
third run (2001) of the Technoscope
programme. Technoscope presents an integrated
approach and analysis of technology management and
strategy; it is a joint course of the National Technical
University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics
and Business. The paper is also available from
the Technical Chamber of Greece site (Word document in Greek).
